NATIONAL HOME DOCTOR SERVICE was formed in 2013 when Australia’s largest and most respected after hours home visiting doctor services joined forces. The new service brings together leading organisations Family Care Medical Services and Melbourne Medical Deputising Service (MMDS) and GP Solutions — to provide quality, trusted and accessible doctor home visits to residents in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong and Adelaide.
In 2013, Family Care Medical Services received the AGPAL Medical Deputising Service of the Year award, and MMDS won The Australian Business Awards – Service Excellence. NATIONAL HOME DOCTOR SERVICE visits 500,000 patients in a year, at night, over weekends and on public holidays when the patient's daytime GP is not available.
HOME DOCTOR SERVICE visit patients in their homes and in aged care facilities when daytime surgeries are closed. Patients can request an afterhours visit from 4pm on weekdays, 10am on Saturday and any time on Sundays and public holidays.
One of the benefits of a home visit is that treatment can usually start that earlier. Doctors carry complimentary starter packs of many commonly prescribed medications. We also provide a report of each visit to the patient’s GP on the following day, to ensure continuity and follow through of treatment.
